Training of trainers program for (office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORICs) Karachi.
The HEC organized a Training of the Trainers (ToT) program for ORICs at Jinnah university for women in Karachi on 2-3 November 2023, which was focused on hands-on and skill intensive training in ORIC revenue generation, IP in research, marketing of research and technology commercialization. The primary aim was to equip ORICs professionals with the latest tools, techniques and the best practices in technology transfer to enhance the impact of our institutions on the innovation landscape.
HEC: Training on BICs Working & Guidelines
The KBIC staff has attended different workshops and training on BICs working and guidelines, organized by the HEC with the collaboration of HEDP and i2i. The agenda was to build the capacity of BIC managers to execute an incubation program for the startups which might help in their business growth and development and to equip managers with skills and tools to ensure their startups can achieve the milestones for growing and scaling, with mentors from across industries.
HEC: Training on Investor Seed fund
The BICs training was organized by the HEC with collaboration of HEDP and i2i and it was funded by the WORLD BANK GROUP. The aim was to build the capacity of BIC managers to execute an incubation program for the startups which might help in their business growth and development. This training has agenda to equip managers with skills and tools to ensure their startups can achieve the milestones for growing and scaling, with mentors from across industries. The training plan has been designed in accordance with the BICs Needs Assessment Diagnostic Calls that were held in one-on-one session with your esteemed BIC during this week.
Program Design for executing a successful incubation program:

One Day Training on “Legal considerations, Company Registration Process-Trade mark and Successful Stories of Startups for the incubates of the 1st cohort of KBIC”

Session Details:
Regular Mentorship Session of the 1st Cohort of Kinnaird Business Incubation Center was held on Monday, 17th April 2023 at Kinnaird Business Incubation Center, Training Room. As per KBIC Curriculum, the first learning session was on the topic of Legal considerations, Company Registration Process-Trade mark and Successful Stories of Startups for the incubates of the 1st cohort of KBIC. The Session was of 1.5 hours’ maximum (1-hour lecture followed by 30 min discussion).
ORICs’ proficiency in Innovation Commercialization and Technology Transfer
Empowering Innovation: HEC organized a dynamic capacity-building workshop at Superior University Lahore, designed to enhance ORICs’ proficiency in Innovation Commercialization and Technology Transfer.
Trademark Registration- KBIC – COHORT1 – 2022/2023
In Pakistan, registration and protection of trademarks is regulated under the Trademarks Ordinance, 2001 and it extends to whole of Pakistan. When the trademark is registered by the registrar, you are the legal owner for the respective trademark. KBIC encouraged its incubates to register their trademarks at priority.
Kinnaird Oric and Business Incubation Centre has selected 17 Business Startups for 1st Cohort.
In this regard, a ceremony was held at Kinnaird College for Women (KCW) which was attended by Principal Dr Rukhsana David, KBIC Team Prof Dr Ghazala yaqub, Ms Meashall Usman, and incubates. The regular session of the 1st Cohort of Kinnaird Business Incubation Center will start on 1st April 2023 for which 17 startups have been called among which 10 are virtual while 7 are physical. The selection process of the 1st Cohort of Kinnaird Business Incubation Center consisted of different phases. In the first phase, an announcement was made regarding Call for 1st Cohort on the website of Kinnaird College. In response to the call for applications for the 1st cohort of KBIC, a huge number of applications were received, out of which 46 were shortlisted after desk evaluation
