After announcing the Call for 2nd Cohort- 2024, Kinnaird Business Incubation Center is inviting its departments to visit KBIC, and guiding them how they can commercialize their research and ideas into successful business ventures.The startups under KBIC Cohort-1 are successfully graduated and running their businesses. Kinnaird Food Science and Human Nutrition Department visited KBIC today and they are very eager to be the part of KBIC Cohort 2

A seminar on “Berlin Startup Ecosystem: Expansion program for Pakistani startups to Berlin and Europe” jointly organized by Higher Education Commission and Kinnaird College for Women (KCW), Lahore – Pakistan.
We at Kinnaird were honored to host Dr. Dr. Talat Mahmood, Board Member of Executive Committee, Asia Berlin Forum e. V., CEO B2P.TecSol/B2P GmbH and German-Pakistan Consultant as a resource person of this seminar. We highly acknowledge the efforts of Higher Education Commission for taking such initiative on women entrepreneurship and women empowerment. The seminar was centrally focusing on Female Entrepreneurship in Pakistan and brought together women entrepreneurs and female research scientists who have made significant contributions to the startup ecosystem. During the seminar, audience shared their experiences of running startups, aiming to expand their startups to other regions. The event was graced by Principal Kinnaird Prof Dr RUKHSANA DAVID and Ms Noshaba Awais Director (Research for Innovation) Higher Education Commission Sector. Mr Waheed Khizar Sheikh, Hazrat Bilal and Mr Abid Latif have also joined the session online.

On November 16, 2023, Mr. Abid, a representative from NESPAK and the World Bank, spearheaded an engaging workshop on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) at Kinnaird business incubation Centre. The enlightening session, attended by enthusiastic students, delved into the intricate world of EIAs, focusing on their methodologies, significance in sustainable development, and regulatory frameworks. Mr. Abid’s expertise illuminated the discussions, providing invaluable insights into successful case studies and the integration of technological advancements in assessment practices. The workshop’s comprehensive content and the interactive nature of the discussions made it an enjoyable and informative experience for all attendees, fostering a deeper understanding of the critical role EIAs play in preserving our environment

Workshop on “Market sizing & growth ;hacking of your startup “how to pitch it right?

On 5th October Kinnaird business Incubation Centre organized a workshop on “Marketing sizing and growth”. Speaker Ali Butt (CEO Safri travels & Tours, CEO Markeyters )explained the strategies of different business ideas. The purpose was to teach the students how to make successful startups. Moreover, he shared, his personal business development journey with incubates for motivation and to encourage them.

Kinnaird Business incubation Centre Organized a workshop on “Early Stage Financing Fund Raising and How to Get Seed Funding” for the incubates of the 1st cohort on 5th September, 2023.

As per KBIC Curriculum, a workshop on “Early Stage Financing | Fund Raising and How to Get Seed Funding” for the incubates of the 1st cohort of KBIC has been conducted at Kinnaird College for Women (KCW), Lahore – Pakistan. The Session was of 1.5 hours (1-hour lecture followed by 30 min discussion). The lecture was from 12 Pm to 1:30 pm on Tuesday, 5th September 2023 at Kinnaird Business Incubation Center, Training Room. Speaker: Abdullah Gilani is a seasoned accounts and finance professional with over 6 years of diversified work experience across multiple industries. He is currently working as a Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist at Lotte Akhtar Beverages

The world’s largest startup competition for women and technology

She Loves Tech’, a global startup and tech competition dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs, was held here on Friday, 1^st September 2023.The event was arranged by Circle Women Association, a women-led startup, supported by Habib Bank Lahore and COLABS.The chief guest of the event was Punjab Women Development Secretary Sumaira Samad while the judges included Neha Idrees, Strategy Lead COLABS, Umer Shahzad, General Manager Khudi Ventures, Anam Sadiq, Co-Founder EDKASA, Faria Shahid, Head Affluent Segments-HBL, and Maryam Khan, vice president SAWDF.Speaking on this occasion, Sadaffe Abid, Founder of Circle Women, expressed her motivation for bringing this competition to Pakistan, sating, “Supporting women entrepreneurs is not merely an option; it is a vital necessity of our time.

By bridging the gender gap in entrepreneurship, we unlock the untapped potential and creativity of our women, addressing the challenges of our era. Embracing women in their entrepreneurial endeavors transcends business creation; it builds resilience, uplifts families, empowers generations, and cultivates vibrant communities. ”She Loves Tech’ plays a role in nurturing young startups and transforming their innovative concepts into tangible realities. It notably offers substantial prize funding of up to US $100,000, connecting female entrepreneurs with a network of over 50 ecosystem partners, inspirational role models and mentors, while enhancing their capabilities through specialized curriculum. The ultimate winner from Pakistan earns a coveted spot at the ‘She Loves Tech’ Global Finale and Conference in Singapore.

It extended its reach this year, encompassing local rounds in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Sukkur, Quetta, Hyderabad, and Gilgit, among the 15 participating cities. Through dedicated outreach efforts, its team ventured into six of these cities, holding rounds on the ground and connecting with startups in person. The aim was to reach and empower 25,000 young women across Pakistan, offering engaging pitches, enlightening panel discussions, inspiring talks, digital boot camps, and workshops tailored to their unique needs.

Dr. Sarah Alam, Founder of Tibbi.pk and winner of ‘She Loves Tech’ Pakistan 2022, shared her journey, saying, “She Loves Tech made me realise that I am not alone as a woman entrepreneur. It has given me a community that I could call my own and rely on whenever need be. The guidance provided at the boot camp and by the mentors was monumental in shaping us towards our win.”

Professor Dr Stephen Miko, Sauk alley Community College, Dixon, IL enlightened the law students about the basics of U.S justice systems and terminologies. Also elaborate the components that ensure the effective enforcement of laws and the administration of justice in U.S.

Workshop on story telling on Monday 17th February, 2025

Kinnaird College for Women- Business Incubation Center (KBIC) arranged a workshop on story telling on Monday 17^th February, 2025. Professor Dr. Paul R.Edleman, Sauk Valley Community College and Professor Farah Habib, Bristol Community College was the Guest Speakers of the workshop. Teachers from Gov. Sector participated in workshop. Our speaker’s shared complete mechanism of Learning through storytelling which refers to a process in which learning is structured around a narrative or story as a means of ‘sense making’. It involves the use of personal story and anecdotes to engage learners and share knowledge.

KBIC Mentorship Session: Equipping Cohort 2 for Global Markets & AI-Powered Growth

Kinnaird Business Incubation Centre (KBIC) successfully hosted an insightful mentorship session on Tuesday, 17th June 2025, at Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore, as part of its ongoing support for Cohort 2 incubatees. Topic was Global Market Entry Strategy & AI-Driven Business Success & Resource Person was Mr. Osama Jawad. This dynamic session aimed to empower KBIC’s emerging entrepreneurs with the strategic knowledge and tools required to scale their ventures globally, while also harnessing the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in business. The session featured interactive discussions, real-world case studies, and personalized feedback, offering immense value to the participating startups as they prepare to expand beyond borders.

The Kinnaird ORIC and Business Incubation Center successfully conducted its Pre-Incubation Training Session – Cohort III (2025) on 28th August 2025 at Hladia Hall from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The session was specially organized for Semester VII students who aspire to explore entrepreneurship and startup development.

The workshop was honored by the presence of Dr. Usamah Iyyaz Billah, who served as the resource person. With his extensive experience in entrepreneurship and innovation, he provided valuable insights into the startup ecosystem and guided students on transforming their ideas into viable business ventures.

A Workshop on “Safeguard your startup: Structures, Strategy and IP Protection

Kinnaird Business Incubation Center (KBIC), successfully conducted a training session titled “Safeguard your startup: Structures, Strategy and IP Protection” for the startups of KBIC. The session aimed to strengthen the legal awareness of incubated startups and equip them with essential knowledge required to build and protect their ventures.

The session was led by Ms. Shaffaf Shahid Latif, Advocate of the High Court, New York Attorney, and Head of the Law Department at Kinnaird College. With her extensive experience in providing legal advisory to startups, she delivered an insightful and engaging session tailored to the needs of early-stage entrepreneurs.

The session covered the following critical aspects:

Business Structures: Understanding various legal structures and selecting the most suitable framework for startups
Intellectual Property (IP) Strategy: Developing a strong IP strategy to create competitive advantage
IP Protection: Exploring legal mechanisms to safeguard innovations and business ideas

Attendees gained practical, actionable knowledge to make informed decisions regarding business structuring and intellectual property protection. The training session proved to be a valuable addition to KBIC’s capacity-building initiatives, reinforcing its commitment to fostering innovation, legal awareness, and entrepreneurial excellence. Seminar on “The Role of Academia in the Second Phase of CPEC (BRI)” Held at LCCI

A seminar on “The Role of Academia in the Second Phase of CPEC (BRI)” was successfully held at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry on 13^th April 2026, bringing together key stakeholders from academia, industry, and policymaking circles.

His Excellency Sun Yan, Consul General of China, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed by Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol, President LCCI, who emphasized the critical importance of academia-industry collaboration in ensuring the success of Phase-II of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor.

A delegation from Kinnaird College for Women, headed by Vice Principal Dr. Kalsoom Akhtar, actively participated in the seminar. The delegation included Dr. Hooria Younas, Director ORIC, along with Dr. Aiyesha Safdar, Dr. Shireen Mushtaq, Dr. Sumaira Anjum. Ms Meashall Usman, Manager KBIC, and the newly inducted cohorts also attended the seminar.

Their participation reflected Kinnaird College’s strong commitment to fostering academia-industry linkages and contributing to national development initiatives under CPEC.

Speakers at the seminar highlighted that strengthening the role of academia is essential for fostering innovation, promoting research, and ensuring sustainable economic growth under the evolving framework of CPEC Phase-II. The session underscored the need for stronger partnerships between educational institutions and industry to maximize the benefits of the Belt and Road Initiative. The seminar concluded with a shared commitment to enhancing collaboration between academia and industry to support Pakistan’s economic development and innovation ecosystem.

Cyber Crime Awareness Session for Students

A Cyber Crime Awareness & Digital Safety Session for Students was organized at the Kinnaird Business Incubation Centre on 30th April from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. The session was conducted by Awamistan, a non-profit startup led by Ms. Kanzul Emaan, working for the welfare and rights of women. The purpose of the session was to educate students about the growing risks in the digital environment and to promote safe and responsible online behavior.

With the increasing use of digital platforms for communication, education, and social interaction, students are becoming more vulnerable to cyber threats such as cyberbullying, identity theft, online harassment, hacking, and financial fraud. The session aimed to raise awareness about these risks and equip students with practical knowledge to protect themselves online.

The resource persons, Advocate Supreme Court Shamim Malik and Ms. Irum Shujah, provided valuable insights into the concept of cybercrime, explaining how certain online activities can have serious legal consequences. They highlighted the importance of consent and the risks associated with sharing personal information and media online, including issues like fake profiles and identity theft.

Students were also guided on reporting mechanisms in Pakistan, particularly through the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), including the process of filing complaints and understanding legal procedures. The session further provided an overview of Pakistan’s cyber laws, emphasizing the legal protections available to individuals, especially students, as well as their responsibilities in the digital space.

Overall, the session successfully enhanced students’ awareness of cyber risks, encouraged responsible digital behavior, and empowered them with the knowledge to stay safe online and report cyber crimes without hesitation.
